25 mar 2021 at 14:19

Recently it became known that Rocket League will definitely come out on mobile phones, in the form of a small 2.5D spin-off.

The mobile version will be called "Rocket League Sideswipe" and will be available exclusively for iOS and Android devices.

Gameplay

Rocket League Sideswipe is being developed by Psyonix and will be free for all players. However, the display will clearly differ from the original version, as the 3D view will be replaced by 2D, which is more "playable" for the phone. The size of the field will become slightly more compact and the match time will also be reduced.

All modes will include two-minute matches 1x1 and 2x2, both modes will allow you to play online.

Psyonix mentioned that the game will also have "a cool car customization similar to Rocket League", but it is unknown whether there will be a trade between players.

It has been confirmed that Sideswipe will include an independent ranking system for completed online modes, but developers have said that they will tell more about this feature closer to the launch.

When will Rocket League Sideswipe be released?

Although the mobile game is still undergoing alpha testing, those who are in Australia and New Zealand can subscribe to the pre-release version of Rocket League Sideswipe from the Google Play store. As for everyone else, the exact date of the official release of Rocket League Sideswipe is still unknown, however Psyonix notes that the beta version will appear in other regions "in the coming months."
