16 may 2024 at 9:41

The main combat kit of the protagonist in Ghost of Tsushima consists of a katana and a tanto. But you can unlock and find additional weapons to expand your arsenal. Below, you'll learn how to unlock additional types of weapons in Ghost of Tsushima.

Sakai Tanto

Sakai Tanto is obtained by default at the start of the game. It's an inheritance passed down to the protagonist after his father's death. However, the tanto won't become a fully functional weapon right away. You'll be able to use it for killing only after completing the quest The Warrior's Code. This is the first mission of the first act, so effectively, the tanto becomes a combat weapon right at the beginning of the game.

Half Bow

Half Bow can be obtained in the early stages of the game after completing one of the first quests - The Tale of Sensei Ishikawa. Sensei will hand over the bow to the protagonist after completing the task, and you'll be able to practice shooting.

Longbow

Longbow is slightly more effective than the half bow. You can't obtain it during the main storyline. To unlock the weapon, you need to complete the side quest The Curse of Uchitsune. Within the quest, you'll have to fight a boss - Tengu Demon. Immediately after defeating the opponent, the Longbow will be added to your inventory.

Flaming Arrows

Flaming, or Flaming Arrows, are needed for more effective shooting with a bow. This type of arrow ignites the enemy upon impact and deals additional damage. The area of effect will be covered in flames, so be careful not to shoot yourself in the foot.

To unlock the arrows, you need to progress further in Sensei Ishikawa's storyline and complete additional quests. At some point, you'll gain access to the quest The Way Of The Bow. Within the quest, you'll have to fight Mongols, so prepare for battle. Upon completion, you'll receive Flaming Arrows.

Blowgun

Blowgun is a ranged weapon that can be obtained after completing the quest Ghosts from the Past. With it, you can shoot enemies with poison from a distance. Within the quest, you'll visit your father's grave, family home, and encounter many enemies.

Kunai, Wind Chime, Bombs

Kunai, Wind Chime, and Bombs - Smoke, Explosive, Sticky - can be unlocked in the Skill Tree. To unlock them, you need to spend Technique Points.

Kunai is a small throwing knife that you can throw at enemies from a distance. The Wind chime "Wind Chime" can be used to distract enemies. Enemies will react to suspicious sounds and try to find their source.
