Crafting system in Ghost of Tsushima: where to find materials

24 may 2024 at 10:22

Crafting in Ghost of Tsushima allows you to create new unique items. You can craft using resources that the player collects in the open world and stores in their inventory. You can create everything from weapon upgrades to bombs, arrows, and armor.

In Ghost of Tsushima, there are several main materials for crafting that will be useful for creating almost any item. In this guide, we'll discuss where to find them. Some resources are easy to get by exploring the open world, but others might be harder to find.

Bamboo

Bamboo (Bamboo Strike) is one of the most common trees you can find in the open world. It's useful for upgrading your bow.

Yew Wood

Yew Wood can also be found in the open world. You won't have trouble finding it as the resource respawns regularly.

Wax Wood

Wax Wood is the rarest. It can only be found in Shinto shrines, some of which are hidden. You can also purchase it from certain merchants for 300 supplies per unit. It's also necessary for upgrading your bow.

Iron

Iron is a primary material you need to bring to the weaponsmith to upgrade your weapons. You can find a lot of iron in Mongol camps, which are marked on the map with a red marker. These camps also contain many other useful resources. To learn their locations, ask NPCs in nearby villages.

Steel

Steel is obtained in the same way as iron - in Mongol camps.

Gold

Gold is the rarest metal, also available in camps, but it appears much less frequently. It can also be a reward for retaking Mongol military camps and reclaiming territories.

Linen

Linen, or cloth, can be obtained by completing side quests in the "Tales of Tsushima" section. Linen is awarded for almost every quest in quantities of several pieces. It's needed for upgrading clothing and armor.

Leather

Leather and silk, like linen, are awarded for "Tales of Tsushima." Their use is similar. Silk is the rarest woven material.

Supplies

Supplies are a universal currency in Ghost of Tsushima, which you can use to "pay" for upgrading armor and weapons. You can find supplies almost anywhere. You just need to actively explore the world: clear camps, sell predator hides to merchants, fight enemies, etc.

Flowers

Flowers can be picked in the open world. Just explore the areas, walk through fields, and pick them. The color of the plants doesn't matter much, but purple flowers are the rarest. They are mainly needed as dyes for unlocking new skins. For example, paint is needed to achieve the "Cooper Clan Cosplayer" achievement.

Predator Hides

Predator Hides can be obtained from bears, boars, and dogs. You can loot either one or two units of the resource from each predator.

Hides can only be obtained from predators. There's no point in hunting deer - you won't get any loot from them.

How to Craft Items in Ghost Of Tsushima

Once you have collected all the necessary resources, you can go to NPCs with specific specializations: hunters, merchants, etc. The currency will also differ. For example, for upgrading weapons or armor, you'll pay with supplies and need the resources themselves, while for skins, you'll need flowers.
