The World Quest of Economics "Sirtos Faetanov": Who are the Sons of the Sun and the symbolism surrounding them?

The world quest "Sirtos Phaeton" in the Enkanomiya region is full of symbolism and interesting details. If you don't pay attention to the dialogues, the events may seem very confusing and unclear. This article is based on the game's dialogues, various text fragments from books, tombs, and the like.

The Story of the "Sirtos Phaeton" Quest

Let's start by discussing the title.

"Phaeton" (an alternative name for the sun's sons according to one version) is the child of Helios (the artificial sun in this case).
"Sirtos" is a dance in which dancers hold hands, forming a chain or circle, and are guided by a single leader (which may symbolize the issue of being a "puppet" or simply the cyclicality of the sun).

Dainiti Mikoshi: The Beginning of the Story

Abekaru (the ghost we encountered during the search for the bridle) was the original creator of Dainiti. Mikoshi (the sun chariot that illuminates the eternal night) is an artificial sun that was also used to protect Enkanomiya from the Abyssal Vishes. Dainiti Mikoshi was the light for the lost nation (by the way, the place was initially called "Helios").

However, at some point, the corrupted knowledge convinced the nation that Dainiti Mikoshi was actually a god, not just a creation of mortal Abekaru. After that, the power began to choose "sons of the sun," which caused Abekaru's dissatisfaction. He was accused of treason for attempting to take "their" glory for himself and, naturally, imprisoned until the end of his days.

They were considered chosen ones, and any actions of the children could be justified by higher powers - but not by humans. The children of the sun were merely pawns in the hands of the nobility and were used for selfish and tyrannical purposes. People hated them, although they realized they were being controlled.

The children of the sun were incredibly lonely, as they were forbidden to even speak to their "curators." They were condemned to a life of ignorance.

Do the Sons of the Sun learn that they were controlled?

No. That's why the nobles created the "Solar Return" ceremony. When the sons of the sun reached the age of 12, they were taken to the main sanctuary of Mikoshi and burned to ashes (thus returning them to the sun).

What role does Klimena, who gives us the quest, play?

Klimena, like the shadow of sin, regrets not taking any action and, instead, following the instructions of the nobility, watched as the children became completely different.

In Greek mythology, "Klimena" is the "mother" of Phaeton. In this case, Klimena plays the role of the "mother" of the "sons of the sun."

In the quest, she says that no one besides the Traveler would want to visit their graves because the children were not just disliked, they were truly hated. Klimena does not justify their actions and agrees that they must pay for what they have done. However, she sincerely pities the innocent children who became victims of brainwashing and were forced to do terrible things.

Graves are scattered throughout Enkanomiya. These graves are royal tombs of the "sons of the sun," the children chosen by the Enkanomiyan royal family to rule the land.
