Top 5 Most Dangerous Enemies in Fallout 4

21 jan 2022 at 21:26

In the world of Fallout 4, there are many diverse enemies. Many of them pose no threat, but among these monsters, you can find worthy opponents who can easily tear apart the main character without any problems. In this article, we will discuss the top 5 most dangerous enemies that you can encounter in Fallout 4. Enemies from the add-ons will also be taken into account.

Yao Guai

Yao Guai are dangerous creatures that can be found throughout the Commonwealth. These creatures originated from bears, and in Fallout 4, encountering these mutated creatures can end badly. They have several advantages. These creatures can quickly close the distance with their prey. The regular Yao Guai is the standard and weakest type, but even it can easily tear apart the main character, especially in the early stages of the game.

If you have survived an encounter with a regular Yao Guai, don't rejoice because there are other subspecies. The regular Yao Guai is stronger than the regular one and is encountered more frequently. Less often, you can encounter a shaggy Yao Guai, a glowing Yao Guai, and a diseased Yao Guai. These subspecies are much stronger than the regular one, have much higher health points, and deal 1.5 to 2.5 times more damage.

The albino Yao Guai is one of the most dangerous, on par with the enraged Yao Guai. Compared to the regular Yao Guai, these two subspecies are four times stronger. In other words, it's better to encounter four regular ones than one enraged Yao Guai.

The last subspecies is the dark Yao Guai. Rarely does an encounter with such an enemy end well. You can encounter this monster after reaching level 76.

 The key to fighting Yao Guai is to maintain distance from them. There is no specific tactic in battling them.

Sentry Bot

These are extremely dangerous creatures that often appear in specific locations and rarely appear randomly. The main advantage of sentry bots is their defense. These robots have a high armor level (125 units) and good energy resistance (85 units). Therefore, it is very difficult to penetrate their defenses with regular weapons.

Sentry bots can appear even at the player's first level, and in that case, an encounter with them will result in the player's death. These robots are well-armed. You may come across several different types. The first one is a robot with a minigun and missile launcher. The missile launcher can instantly kill you on "Survival" difficulty, so you need to be prepared to face such an enemy. The second version is a sentry bot with two miniguns. It is weaker than the first one, but it should not be underestimated. And the least common is the "Mark 2" robot, which stands out with its appearance and armament. "Mark 2" has a unique rocket launcher on its back, which launches a large number of rockets at once. It also has much more health and defense.

Sentry bots are dangerous at both long and short distances. The battle tactic is simple - wait for the robot to overheat, approach from behind, and attack the vulnerable nuclear cores. The sentry bot cools down fairly quickly, so there is little time to react.

 By taking the "Penetrator" perk, you gain a significant advantage in fighting sentry bots as you can shoot through their armor and hit the nuclear cores.

Even if you manage to destroy this creature, don't get too close because it explodes after death, causing massive damage. Wait for the explosion to occur and only then approach for looting.

Do not try to disable the robot's limbs first. If you disable the limbs, the sentry bot will initiate self-destruct and rush towards you at full speed to explode.

Quantum Utilibots

In the base version of the game, these robots cannot be encountered. They appear with the Automatron add-on, and it's important not to confuse quantum utilibots with regular utilibots. The latter have no protection or damage, but quantum utilibots are a completely different story. So what makes them special? Let's consider their advantages:

  • High movement speed, allowing them to quickly close the distance with the player;
  • Incredible defense. Quantum utilibots have nearly the same level of protection as guard robots;
  • If the player reaches level 52, quantum utilibots will level up alongside the player;
  • Massive damage. It can be confidently said that quantum utilibots have the highest damage among all robots, or even in the entire game. In "survival" mode, you can die in just a few hits, like from laser turrets.

The enemy is quite strong but clumsy. Quantum utilibots have poor aim and shoot lasers. If you keep your distance, you can destroy them from afar without risking your life. However, if you get too close, death will come instantly, even if the player is wearing power armor.

Assaultrons

Yes, robots again. Assaultrons are encountered much more frequently in the game than quantum utilibots and guard robots, and their main characteristic is mobility. Guard robots are quite fast, but assaultrons can close the distance much sooner, and that's their main goal. Assaultrons have a set of close-range attacks, and it would be foolish to ignore this enemy since throughout the entire battle, the assaultron charges its laser in its head. If the assaultron manages to charge its laser and hit you, it will be devastating, even if you're wearing power armor. Moreover, assaultrons are often encountered in locations with many enemies, which further complicates the situation.

 Assaultrons' close-range attacks stun, and the robot takes advantage of it. It may happen that the assaultron first makes a melee strike, stunning you, and then fires the laser from its head, which in "Survival" mode leads to instant death.

Just like with guard robots, if you destroy the assaultron's arms, the robot will run towards you to self-destruct. Assaultrons have a combat inhibitor, breaking which causes the assaultron to attack everyone, not just the player. Hitting this inhibitor is practically impossible, and even the "Penetrator" perk doesn't work in this case.

In the game, you can encounter different types of assaultrons. They differ little in battle tactics, except that they have more health, defense, and damage. But there's a special type - the Dominator. This is a very dangerous enemy. The assaultron Dominator has several distinctive features:

  • Instead of standard arms (like regular assaultrons), the Dominator has real blades and uses them very effectively;
  • The Dominator has the same level of defense as a guard robot, so it will be difficult to pierce through this enemy;
  • The assaultron Dominator has a built-in invisibility function and takes advantage of it. You won't see your opponent, and worst of all, you won't be able to use VATS.

There's also the Gorgon assaultron. If we consider their characteristics, the Gorgon assaultron is stronger than the Dominator. The Gorgon has more health, defense, and immense damage, but it's the Dominator's invisibility that can be considered the most annoying and dangerous among all assaultrons.

Deathclaws

The most dangerous wild creatures that can be encountered in various locations within the Commonwealth (and beyond). Deathclaws have only one thing on their minds - killing, and they excel at it. If one of these monsters closes the distance with the player, it's game over. Power armor might provide some protection, but engaging in close combat with a Deathclaw without it is a certain death. The main characteristic of Deathclaws is that they appear much more frequently than the aforementioned enemies. Additionally, there are numerous different types of Deathclaws.

The weakest type is encountered early in the game, where we meet Preston Garvey. Even this regular type poses a considerable challenge. A regular Deathclaw has 100 points of armor and 250 points of energy resistance. Consequently, using energy weapons against Deathclaws is pointless.

You might survive an encounter with a regular Deathclaw, but other types are much more formidable. For example, the Alpha Deathclaw is the next in line in terms of strength. This monster deals much higher damage and has increased defenses: 150 points of armor and 300 points of energy resistance.

The Deathclaw Queen is even stronger than the Alpha Deathclaw, boasting immense damage and defense: 225 armor points and 375 energy resistance. And this isn't even the strongest type of Deathclaw in the game. The strongest variant is the Mythic Deathclaw. Here's what makes it special:

  • Massive damage, three times higher than a regular Deathclaw;
  • A high amount of health: 1360 points;
  • Three times more armor and resistance compared to a regular Deathclaw.

In a battle with Deathclaws (including the Mythic variant), aim for their legs. The main advantage of Deathclaws lies in their mobility. They can easily reach the player and kill them quickly. But if you shoot off and disable their legs, Deathclaws become defenseless.

 Use the Sergeant Ash flamethrower, which can be purchased from Dejen in Acadia. This flamethrower deals additional damage to lower limbs and works perfectly against Deathclaws.

Once you have disabled both of the Deathclaw's legs, try to kill it as quickly as possible, as after some time, the monster will regain its strength and attack again. After disabling the legs, aim for the abdomen - it's the most vulnerable spot.

And that concludes our compilation, dear readers. Let us know in the comments which monsters from Fallout 4 you would personally add to this list. Good luck!
