How to Unlock the All-Devouring Narwhal Boss

The boss will first appear during the course of the new story quest, "Masquerade of the Guilty." The quest will be available with the release of the 4.2 update on November 8th server time. Within the quest, the battle with the opponent will be easier. Afterward, the boss will become a weekly trial in the "Boss Domains" category.

To participate in the battle, you'll need 30 (if the boss is among the first three weekly fights) or 60 Original Resin.

Stages and Special Skills

Features of the All-Devouring Narwhal boss:

• In the first stage, it has a 70% resistance to Hydro damage.
• In the second stage, it has a 70% resistance to Electro damage.
• Resists all elements by 10%, except for increased resistance in the first and second stages.
• Attack power - 19,000.

Do not use Hydro and Electro damage dealers, except for support characters, healers, and shield characters. For instance, Raiden can be used for energy regeneration, especially in the first stage.

First Stage

The battle with the boss is divided into two main phases that alternate if you can't defeat it quickly.

In the first stage, the boss unleashes a series of powerful attacks:

1. Digs underground, emerges, and attacks in an area.
2. Emerges from the wall and strikes at a character.
3. Surfaces halfway from underwater and summons rays that fall and deal Hydro damage in an area.
4. Jumps out and falls on its belly, striking a character. After the strike, cracks form on the surface and explode, causing Hydro damage.
5. Creates the Eyes of the Maelstrom - the most dangerous move. If you fail to hit the target in the given time, the boss delivers a lethal attack, instantly killing the character. A similar mechanic is found on Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto and Shouki no Kami.

There are no new mechanics in this stage. Evade area attacks, use shields for protection, and maintain continuous attacks. Once the boss accumulates rage, it enters the Second Stage. The boss swallows the main character and transports them to a new space.

Second Stage

The second stage occurs inside the Narwhal. The fight is against a Phantom, wielding a two-handed sword.

Features of the second stage and the Phantom's combat:

• Deals Electro and Hydro damage, with a 70% resistance to Electro damage.
• Absorbs most damage with a shield. To remove it, use attacks with Pneuma or Ousia energy.
• Performs horizontal and vertical attacks, dealing Electro damage.
• Summons Electro projectiles, causing significant area damage.
• Creates an additional shield similar to the Eyes of the Maelstrom, which can be removed by Ousia or Pneuma power.
• Summons turrets that deal Hydro damage.

Once the shield is destroyed, the battle ends, and you can collect your rewards.

Building the Right Team

Universal elements you can use: Cryo, Dendro, Pyro + a character with Ousia or Pneuma power. It's optimal to use heroes that can attack from a distance, such as archers. Let's go through characters for each category.

• Cryo Damage Dealers: Newcomer Wriothesley, Ganyu, Ayaka - versatile characters dealing high damage.
• Pyro Damage Dealers: Lyney, Yoimiya.
• Dendro Damage Dealers: Alhaitham, Tighnari.
• Support Characters: Bennett and Xiangling - deal plenty of Pyro damage and boost attack power, Nahida - versatile support for any setup, especially with reactions (if mastered), Zhongli with an HP build - protects against the boss's powerful attacks, Fischl - for energy regeneration, Sucrose, Kaedehara Kazuha, Lynette - for elemental spread and reaction enhancement, Shenhe - for a Cryo team.
• Healers: The new Charlotte, who heals the team through her ultimate, Layla and Diona - shield characters and healers, Kokomi - one of the best and versatile healers, suitable for reactions.

To ease the battle, use food to increase attack power and potions that boost damage of the corresponding element. If the boss seems too difficult, consider tackling it in cooperative mode.

Achievement

For defeating the boss, you can earn an achievement from the "Wonders of the World" section - "Galactic Hitchhiker." The condition for completion is to be "inside the monster's stomach twice within a single trial."

• Varunada Lazurite fragments - for ascending Hydro characters.
• Dark Silk Thread, Dark Eye of the Whirlwind, Dark Matter - for talent upgrades.
