The best Far Cry 6 settings for weak computers
In addition to the exciting gameplay, Far Cry 6 can delight gamers with colorful graphics and stunning visual effects. This places fairly high demands on the computer. But can you play this game if your computer is not very powerful? And how will it look? That's what we'll try to figure out in this article.
So, here are the recommended hardware requirements:
- Intel Core i7-7700 processor. AMD Ryzen 5 3600X is also a great option;
- Windows 10. It's important to note that only the 64-bit version is considered;
- 16 GB of RAM;
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 or AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 graphics card.
With these specifications, the game will fully showcase itself and allow you to appreciate the scale of what's happening on the screen.
Now, let's talk about the minimum requirements:
- The processor should be Intel Core i5-4460 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200;
- Windows 10 (no changes here);
- 8 GB of RAM;
- As for the graphics cards, you can use NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 or AMD Radeon RX, both with 4 GB of VRAM.
Don't think that the game will drastically worsen on a low-end PC. There are certain requirements, of course, but you can make some adjustments to improve performance.
Here are some tips to increase the frame rate and enhance the graphics of the game. Here's what you can change in the settings for that:
- Windowed mode. This setting allows your computer to focus on the game without allocating resources to other processes, such as supporting the desktop. It's recommended to choose full-screen mode.
- Resolution. It's recommended to set the native resolution of your display. 1920x1080 is the most common option.
- Aspect ratio. 16:9 is the most frequently used value. 21:9 can be set for those who have an ultrawide monitor. And if you have an older square monitor, you can confidently choose 4:3.
- Texture filtering. If your PC has a graphics card with less than 6 GB of VRAM, you can skip this setting. It requires significant video memory usage.
- Shadows. Shadows don't have a significant impact on the gameplay. Therefore, owners of weak PCs are recommended to select "minimum quality."
- World geometry and vegetation. Like shadow quality, it consumes a lot of video memory resources and also puts a load on the processor. For weak PCs that barely meet the minimum requirements, it is advisable to set it to "medium" or lower. But definitely not higher.
- Environment. This parameter puts a load on both the processor and the graphics card. It is recommended to set the parameter to no higher than "medium." This setting determines how far the lighting and reflections will be rendered.
- Water. Although water surrounds the game locations, players will not be near it frequently. To ensure smooth gameplay without lag, it is recommended to set this parameter to "medium."
- Landscape. If your PC has a GeForce 900 series graphics card or an AMD Radeon RX series, there should be no problems. However, if your graphics card is outdated compared to these options, the recommended setting is low or medium.
- Volumetric fog. You can set it to high quality as this parameter does not require significant resources from your PC.
- HD textures. If you have a 4K or 8K display, you can confidently enable this parameter. However, keep in mind that you will need to download an additional 30 GB of data. Otherwise, your hardware may not handle it. To have textures rendered in fine detail, 11 GB of video memory will be required.
- Anti-aliasing. This setting can improve the appearance of objects on the monitor, making them more visually appealing without visible jagged edges. It is recommended to choose SMAA, which can effectively deal with "jaggies."
- Motion blur. This effect is subjective. It causes the camera image to blur during motion, adding a sense of speed to the gameplay. It does not significantly affect performance, so it's up to you whether you prefer this effect or not.
- Camera shake. It also does not affect performance. It adds realism to the game, for example, causing the image to shake and deteriorate during an explosion.
- Poison and intoxication effects. Similar to the previous parameter, you can enable it if desired.
- Frame rate limit. If your processor and graphics card are relatively weak, it is recommended to set it to "30." For more powerful systems, you can increase it by 2 times to 60.
- Vertical sync. This parameter can achieve smoothness by aligning frame timing. However, it may also affect control responsiveness negatively.
- Field of view scale. This parameter affects how much space the player can see. The recommended value is 75 for a 16:9 screen format. Otherwise, it may negatively affect performance.
- Adaptive resolution. It benefits PCs with lower power. This allows the game to automatically adjust to avoid lag, especially during large-scale battles.
- Resolution scale. It is recommended to leave the value at 1.0. Lowering this parameter will result in decreased image clarity.
So, let's summarize the recommended settings for both powerful and relatively weak PCs.
Fullscreen mode.
Aspect ratio - standard (16:9).
HD textures - disable.
Vertical sync - disable.
Field of view scale - 75.
Resolution scale - 1.0.
The remaining parameters can be adjusted based on personal preferences (such as camera shake or poison effects) and the specifications of your personal computer. If your PC lacks power and performance, it's not advisable to set high parameters.
By the way, if you have a weak PC, it is recommended to choose SMAA in the "Anti-aliasing" parameter. If your computer is powerful enough, you can select TAA.
