Developers of Crusader Kings 3 Paradox Interactive have been hinting at a big free update 1.3 for the past month, which will expand duels and also bring a change of weather, namely snow and blizzards.

Now we know that these additions will arrive this week along with the paid patch Northern Lords, which will add cool content with a Scandinavian theme to the game, including new events and Viking hairstyles.

Announced during the Paradox Insider evening stream, Northern Lords is a “small package” rather than a full game expansion. It adds new items for Scandinavian characters, including clothing, hairstyles and beards, music, new ship models and events steeped in Scandinavian culture.

The addition of winter in the free update to Crusader Kings 3 obviously goes very well with the emphasis on the cold north. Winters can be mild, normal or harsh, resulting in your armies suffering more significant losses in battle.
